Transport is the glue that connects us to the things that keep us healthy – our friends, families, jobs, shops, education, healthcare, activities and culture. It is a key factor in maintaining our independence as we age

As the seagull flies, it is not a massive distance from one end of Torbay to the other. But as those who live here know, it is not always easy to get from A to B in a convenient, timely way.
Many people spending their retirement in Torbay gradually become more isolated as they lose their access to the means of travel.
Community and voluntary groups have found creative ways of helping people to get to appointments and activities around the Bay.
Torbay Citizens’ Assembly is focusing on Age Friendly Transport as the second of their three priority areas.
Sustrans were commissioned by Torbay Council to work with the community of Watcombe using age-friendly principles to support the creation of an action plan to make active travel easier and a more attractive option for all ages.



Torbay Council Officers presented the Devon and Torbay Local Transport Plan to the Torbay Citizens’ Assembly.
